In the next installment of our Employee Spotlight Series, we are highlighting Joanne Kanemaki, the General Sales Manager for our all-new authorized Sprinter and Metris Mercedes-Benz van center, Fletcher Jones Van Center, in Costa Mesa, CA.

Why Not Sell Cars?

Over 30 years ago, Joanne was driving her Volvo Station Wagon, thinking how much she loved her car; then, she enthusiastically shares, “I thought to myself, why not sell them?” This idea struck at the most opportune time – Joanne was looking to shift careers – and she submitted her application for a sales position. She was hired on the spot and asked to start the following day. Now, it’s been over 30 years of perseverance and passion for the automotive world.

She shares, “When I started out, women were not in the business.” Joanne went on to explain how her colleagues at the time were taking bets on her performance and how long she would stay in the position. This was all background noise to her. She only concerned herself with lending a helping hand to the women coming through the door. She says, “I am here to help, not just sell what’s on the lot.” Joanne’s hardwork and dedication to caring for the guest made room for her to climb up to the top.
 

 

Why Not Sell Mercedes-Benz Vans?

At the time of the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter van debut, Joanne could already be found selling Mercedes-Benz vehicles. She shares, “I saw the 2010 Mercedes-Benz sprinter and thought: What are these?” Following her passion for the outdoors and Mercedes-Benz, she changed lanes to start selling Mercedes-Benz vans. Joanne greatly enjoys the opportunity to greet each guest, share all available information on the vans and lend her support, however the guest sees fit. She explains, “We’re a small community, and I am here for my community!”

Why Fletcher Jones?

“Fletcher Jones is my dream job! I couldn’t ask for a better company.” Joanne loves her guests and Fletcher Jones Auto Group is passionate about delivering an elevated guest experience, the Fletcher Jones Difference. It’s a win-win situation in her book!

Outside of Work

When not supporting our Fletcher Jones Van Center guests, Joanne is an avid camper (favorite spot: Mammoth), shopping the local farmers market, spending time with her kids and dog!
